Luke's visit with Santa. Santa actually came to our street. So fun for the neighborhood kids.

Luke is 3 months old now and what a roller coaster ride its been! Life as we know it has changed but we are having fun and enjoying every moment of it (thru tired eyes). We can't believe how much attention such a little person needs!

Luke seems to change daily. He is very alert and likes to look at his suroundings. Lately feedings have taken a little longer because it seems as though he gets distracted and pops the bottle out of his mouth and starts to "talk" to whatever object caught his attention. It was cute the first few times but now ...not so fun. :) He is lucky he's cute!

WE ARE FAMILY

UNO FAMILY REUNION

JUNE 25, 2010

There is nothing quite like family. Culture and heritage are very important to us. We both embrace this with open arms and will teach our son that family is always #1 and its important to know where we came from.

We attended the Uno family reunion held at the Japanese American Museum in Little Tokyo. The Uno family is Marc's maternal grandfathers side of the family. It was exciting to look at old family pictures dating back to the early 1900's and learn about the Uno family history and meeting many of Marc's distant relatives. The reunion consisted of a guided tour of the museum, a sushi making lesson, and a talent show.

I am extremely lucky to have my family so close and to be able to see them often. Something i sometimes take for granted.

Happy Anniversary

June 2, 2010

I recently read an article about a couple who have been married for 50 years. When they first met she didn't speak English and he didn't speak Japanese. They didn't let this stand in their way and 50 years later they are in tune and still very much in LOVE. Some days I feel like Marc and I don't speak the same language but we know that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship. We have our ups and downs and we make it work. He still makes me laugh and gives me butterflies. I hope that in 47 years I'm able to tell our tale of love.

We spent our three year anniversary (yes i know, three years!!) enjoying dinner at Sanuki No Sato. It is a yummy Japanese restaurant where they make their own udon noodles. We stuffed ourselves then went home and watched some tv. It was a relaxing anniversary but there really isn't much to do on a weekday when you are 6 months pregnant.

24 weeks and counting...

I've almost reached the end of my 2nd trimester. Time is surely going by quick. We have been so busy that I have not been doing a very good job at taking belly pictures or updating everyone on the status of the pregnancy so here is a quick recap.

I started to feel better at about week 17. The nausea and vomiting was so bad that the doctor had to put me on medication. Glad all that is over with. The bad news is that my appetite has returned. In order not blow up like the Good Year Blimp I met with a nutritionist (who is awesome, you can check her out here http://eating-made-easy.com/ ). She made me more aware of what I'm eating and how to make healthier choices for the baby and I. I still eat most of my favorite foods but instead of snacking on junk food I snack on sweet fruit which usually satisfies my sweet craving. There are a couple of food choices I can't substitute like the occasional fries and egg mcmuffin from McDonalds.

At week 18 we found out the sex of the baby. The ultra sound was a bit nerve wrecking for me. I was stuck with an intern who took two hours performing the exam. I was very anxious and thought that something was wrong. Fortunately, she was just being very detailed. When we received news that the baby was BOY we were overwhelmed with emotions. Words cannot describe what I felt at that moment. We have also come up with a name - LUKE. We are still working on a middle name, but that will come with time.

Recently I've started to feel Luke kicking around a bit. It only happens a few times a day but its an incredible feeling and reminds me that although I can still fit into my low rise regular jeans (with the help of the Bella Band) and most of my tops, he's in there growing!

I am so grateful to all my friends and family who have shown so much love and support. A few thanks and shout outs to Denise who baked ginger bread for me while i was ill, Shelley brought over a homemade baby bootie cake along with a pregnancy book, Becky has been very helpful with tons of info and sent me a baby journal where i track my pregnancy week by week. She is also pregnant and its nice to bounce off feelings and ideas off each other. Ashleigh bought baby Luke a Paul Frank onesie, Aunt Linda bought some beanies, Sandra bought Luke his first set of skater type shoes, Jenny sent me my first maternity clothes, she has also been very helpful with info. Marc's mom, Una has bought the baby tons of clothes, i'm sure its the first lot of many to come and Stacy has sent Luke clothes and other items.

I hope you are all enjoying your spring and making way for summer! Make sure to scroll down or view the other May posts for belly shots and other pictures.

This is the Nursey bedding we purchased from Pottery Barn. I like the old fashioned style print. Now we just need a bed, dresser, changing table...oh so many things!

Baby is brewing….

That’s right, I’m 11 weeks pregnant and what a ride it’s been so far. I keep hearing that the nausea and vomiting will get better and I sure as hell hope so or I’m in for a long 7 months!

We found out we were pregnant in early January and our first ultra sound was towards the end of January. Although it didnt look like anything other than a peanut, it was a very emotional moment. Marc is very excited and anxious to be a daddy and so am I!

Our due date is September 15th so i'll be nice and plump during the hot summer months. The above is a picture of the fetus at 7 weeks. She/he is only 1.10 cm but already had a heart beat.

I'm still shocked that there is life brewing inside me. Stay tuned for more updates!

oh and for those of you wondering...yes it was planned because thats the way I roll!
